Here's another cover that I finished recently, but haven't had the time to share. It was for the cover to the Azamar Player's Guide by the excellent folks over at Wicked North Games. They were a pleasure to work with, and have posted a few work-in-progress shots on their blog, as well as an interview with yours truly.

It's been a while since I've been able to update my blog, but that's only because I've been buried under a mountain of work! Nothing has changed in that regard, but I thought I'd better get something up here, so people don't think I've disappeared completely. Just a couple quick pieces, and them back to work for me.

This is a Venom piece that I did primarily for fun, and secondarily as a promo piece. I posted it on twitter a while back, but forgot to put it up here. See why you should be following me? @tylerwalpole

Barbarian vs. Giant Scorpion...Mech?

Yup, that's right. Here we've got a fearless (or, y'know...suicidal) barbarian charging straight at a 20 foot tall mech with a positron glider strapped to its back. This was an interior illustration for the Pathfinder Campaign Setting Inner Sea Guide Book. For those of you that don't play Pathfinder, this is a book designed to explore the world that the Role Playing Game is set in.

So..yeah. Here you go!

Mercy Thompson - Moon Called #5 cover

The Diamond Previews catalog hit the stands yesterday. In addition to my cover for D&D #3, my first cover for Dynamite Entertainment is as well. Its for Mercy Thompson: Moon Called #5. It is a comic adaptation of the first book in Mercy Thompson series of novels by Patricia Briggs. I haven't read the novel series yet, but I really enjoyed the first issue of the comic. Lots of magic and mayhem, in a modern setting! Anyway, here it is!

Dungeons & Dragons #3

Here's my most recent cover for IDW's D&D comic, and my favorite of the bunch so far. The original idea was to have Adric (the poor guy in the middle) being ambushed by a bunch of orcs. Having done a cover similar to that in the past, I thought I'd try something a little different. I'm pretty pleased with the result, and hope you are too!

Fantasy Hero Cover

This image represents a couple firsts for me. This is my first cover for the main rule book for any game system, which is quite an honor, actually, because the folks that play the game will see this image a lot, and hopefully enjoy it, and draw some inspiration from it. Also, it is my first wraparound cover, which presented some interesting challenges in composition. I really appreciated the almost letterbox format, as there is a LOT of stuff going on in this image.

So here you go, Fantasy Hero 6th Ed for Hero Games, art directed by Fred Hicks.

Orcs of Golarion

Next up, is my cover to Paizo's Orcs of Golarion. This is easily one of my favorite overs from the last year...big ol' monster fight. What's not to love?

On a related note...when I Googled the title of this book to get the link, the first two things that came up in the auto-fill were "Orcs of Golarion PDF" and "Orcs of Golarion torrent". Sigh. Tabletop gaming is not a growing industry my friends. You want more and better games out there for you and your gaming friends to play? Try supporting both the companies whose books you enjoy, and your local retailer (or, y'know, Amazon) and actually BUY their products.

Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Sun

Wow, two posts in one week. What is the world coming to? I was looking at my website the other day, and I realized that going by my blog, you might thing all I have been doing over the last couple months is trying to get work with Marvel (and failing, BTW!). Well, that is simply not the case.

I work. A lot.

Just ask my wife!

I've been so busy in fact, that I haven't felt that I had time to update my site. Things have settled down a bit for the time being, so its time for me to get back to getting some of this stuff online. So, lets get started, eh?

First up is a cover I did for Dungeons and Dragons. This was for Wizards of the Coast's Free RPG Day product, Bloodsand Arena. It was one of the first of their new Dark Sun line of books, and was a real treat for me to work on.

Harry Dresden

Here's a promo piece I just finished up of Harry Dresden, from Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series. This is one of my all time favorite book series, and my studio-mates are listening to the audio versions of the books now. Hearing James Marsters read it was nice inspiration while I worked on this.

Black Widow

With Black Widow appearing in the new Iron Man movie I thought it would be fun to do a piece featuring this femme fatale.

Here's another portfolio piece that I kicked out in my "free time". I'm making a big push to try and get some comic cover work this year, and since I am a bit of a Marvel Zombie, I'm starting off with a round of Marvel samples.

Doctor Doom and a website update.

Hey, wouldja lookit that? I actually managed to do an update to my website! I've uploaded several new images. There's a few from Wizard of the Coast's Dragon Magazine, as well as some World of Warcraft TCG art. They can all be seen in the Recent Work section, as well as in the Illustration section. The piece shown below is a Doctor Doom promo piece that recently finished up.
